This 5 day expidition is a great way to discover many of the hidden gems that the Erongo region has to offer. It is a culmination of all our tours PLUS a little something EXTRA that is only available when you book this tour with us....but more about this later...
How it works:
You have the freedom of choice of accomodation to stay at when YOU BOOK your own establishment in Swakopmund, Langstrand or Walvis Bay.
Each day of the tour we will collect you from your accomodation and afterwards we will drop you off there as well. Whilst with us, all refreshents, permits and park fees are included. So all you really need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your adventure!
What to expect:
Day 1: Moonlandscape & Welwitschia- We travel to one of the most spectacular areas of Namibia to view the endemic Welwitchia Maribilis plant, and then we explore the 500 million year old geology of the Moonlandscape. Great photo opportunities as we stop at a few lookout points of this area.
Day 2: Kayaking with seals OR Yacht cruise & Namib desert- We offer you the chance to kayak amongst 20 000 friendly Cape Fur Seals at the Pelican Point Peninsula OR a yacht cruise to view dolphins, the oyster fields and the Pelican Point Peninsula. After your morning activity we head into the spectacular Namib desert where we will view the desert adapted wildlife and flora, and view Sandwich Harbour, a lagoon some 50km into the desert that plays host to thousands of species of birds and other wildlife. Fantastic photo opportunities during this tour.
Day3: Spitzkoppe Granite Peaks- Today we travel to THE most photographed area in Namibia. The Spitzkoppe is the highest "mountain" in Namibia and is also described as the Matterhorn of Namibia due to its unique shape. This place will leave you breathless. We also view ancient bushment rock paintings and visit a semi-precious stone market.
Day 4: Cape Cross & Deadsea Swimhole (only available during this tour) - We walk in the footsteps of Diego Cao, the Portugese explorer who first set foot on this land in 1486 whilst establishing a sea trading route around Africa to India. At the Seal Reserve there are upto 210 000 Cape Fur Seals, this is the largest colony in Africa. From here we head deap into the desert and explore a old tin mine that has now filled with miniral rich water. Here we also learn about lichens and their importance to the enviroment.
Day 5: Highlights of Walvis Bay - Today is our final day on tour and we take the time to visit the icons of the town namely Pelican Point Peninsula, Walvis Bay Lagoon and Dune 7 Thereafter we have some free time to enjoy a seafood lunch on the beach (min 4 adults) ( for those who do not want seafood we can arrange a different menu) and reflect on our adventures.
And this brings us to the end of our time together in Erongo.
