The Simien Mountains Massif, also known as "The roof of Africa", with the snow covered peak of Mount Ras Deshen. This mountain is 4543 meters high and is the fourth highest peak in the continent. It is the home of endemic Walia Ibex, Ethiopian wolf and different species of birds.

Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Air port
Meet and greet you FANOS Ethiopia Tours representative at exit of luggage claim and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight stay in Radissun Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Addis Ababa City Tour
You will have an early breakfast and your first visit in Addis Ababa will be the National Museum (pre historic, cultural, archaeological attractions), Ethnographic Museum of Addis Ababa University (culture, dressing style, traditional practices of over 80 ethnic groups, and collection of traditional musical instruments). Lunch at Lucy Restaurant.
Your visit also comprises tourist attraction sites like Emperor Minelik’s Palace, St. Raguel’s Church (after a drive to Entoto Mountain - 3000 meter above sea level), Merkato, (the largest open market in Africa).In the evening, we will host you at one of the best traditional restaurants of Addis where you can see the folk dances of the Ethiopian people and taste Ethiopian variety of meals. Overnight stay in Radissun Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Day 3: Drive to Bahir Dar
After breakfast, you will drive to Bahir Dar (564 Km from Addis). En route, you will visit Debre Libanos Monastery (founded in the 13th century by priest Tekla Haimanot, today one of Ethiopia’s most renowned saints) & the museum. After 100km from Debre Libanos Monastery the road dropping more than 1000m, gradually winds down to the bottom of the Blue Nile Gorge, which is comparable in scale to American’s Grand Canyon cited to be the largest canyon in Africa. You will stop for lunch at Debre Markos. Then you will arrive in Bahir Dar (late afternoon). You will check into a hotel. You will have dinner, rest & spend the night there. Overnight stay in Abay Minch Lodge, Bahir Dar.
Day 4: Boat Ride on Lake Tana to Visit Island Monasteries and visit Blue Nile Falls
You will have an early breakfast and drive to Lake Tana, take a boat ride where you will visit to the medieval period island monasteries (beautiful mural paintings, religious books & sacred) on Lake Tana such as: Kibran Gabriel (only for men), Entos and on the Zegien peninsula visit Ura Kidan Mehiret, Azuwa Mariam, Mahal Giorgis.
After lunch, you will drive (some 30 Km) and visit to the Blue Nile Falls. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel. Overnight stay in Abay Minch Lodge, Bahir Dar.
Day 5: Drive to Gondar and Visit the Fassiladas Castles
You will be driven to Gondar (185 Km) right after breakfast. There you will check into a hotel and after a brief break, you will have lunch.
Then, you will visit to the Royal Castles (built in the 17th Century A.D. that is surrounded by high stone walls containing the 17th century palaces of King Fassiladas, King Iyasu and Queen Mentewab and different other buildings.), the Bath of Emperor Fasiledes (the bath is filled with water for the important Timkat (epiphany) ceremony once a year. The ceremony replicates Christ’s baptism in the Jordan River, and is seen as an important renewal of faith.), the Historic
Debre Birhan Selassie Church (Trinity at the Mount of Light) has a ceilings decorated with beautiful winged Angels, and its walls with impressive scene depicting biblical events, including; St. May, the Saints, martyrs and the life of Christ.
Depending on the time you can visit also the Castle of Empress Mintewab, and Kuskwam Complex which is a royal compound built by the Empress Mentewab. Inside the palace look out the figures of crosses and Ethiopian characters and animals, such as St Samuel riding his lion.

Day 6: Excursion to Debarq, 100km gravel road to visit the Simien Mountains National Park.
You will have breakfast & drive to Debark (100 Km from Gonder) finish formalities at the Head Quarter of the park at Debarq and continue to drive another 20km then make a short walk/trek and spend the day visiting the Simien Mountains National Park (registered by UNISCO as a world heritage site, with endemic & mammals, birds, natural vegetation, & wonderful landscape). Later in the early evening, you may make a short walk around Sankaber or rest. Then you will have dinner and stay the night in the lodge. Overnight stay night camping at Sankaber.
Day 7: Trek Sankaber to Geech
In the morning, you will have breakfast and start trekking to Geech through the Wazla (or Koba) River runs, making a short diversion to see one of the most impressive sights in the Simien Mountains, where the Jinbar River plummets into the Geech Abyss. Continuing along, you will cross the Jinbar River and ascend into the village of Geech where you will do camping. You will have dinner and stay the night at camping. Overnight stay night camping at Geech.
Day 8: Trek Geech to Chenek
Right after breakfast, an early morning trek will take you to the peak of Imet Gogo (3,926 meter above sea level). From here you descend into Chenek through an open, grassy valley filled with 3 and 4 meter tall Giant Lobelias. The Chenek camp site offers superb views across to the opposite escarpment and the prominent peak of Imet Gogo. You will camp at Chenek where you will have dinner and stay the night camping. Overnight stay night camping at Chenek.
Day 9: Trek Chenek to Ambikwa
After breakfast, you will trek to Ambikwa at the foot of Ras Dashen. You will continue east to Bwahit peak (4,330 meter above sea level) though a valley where after crossing Bwahit, you will come to an incredible spot offering wonderful views of the Meshesha River Valley as well as your first glimpse of Ras Dashen Mountain (from where, the path descends, passing through the village of Chiro Leba, leading finally to the Mesheha River). Then across the river, you will climb up the valley, back to the village of Ambikwa where you will be camping. You will have dinner and stay the night there. Overnight stay night camping at Ambikwa.
Day 10: Excursion to Summit of Ras Dashen, 4620m above sea leavel
Right after breakfast, an early morning trekking will take you to the summit of Ras Dashen (4,620 meter above sea level) through the valley to the village of Mizma, after which you will have a steep ascent to a ridge crest overlooking a large valley. You will eventually reach a point where you will see triple-summited bulk of Ras Dashen looms above and it is far from obvious which of these is the highest. A pile of rocks at the top of the buttress marks the summit. Take a rest on the top of the summit and enjoy the views. Then after descent back to Ambikwa for overnight stay. Camping at Ambikwa. You will have dinner and stay the night at the camping site. Overnight stay night camping at Ambikwa.
Day 11: Trek Ambikwa to Arkwasiye
In the morning after breakfast, descending from your camp Ambikwa back westwards, you will trek to Arkwasiye (3,600 meter above sea level). You will have lunch in the bush. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night camping. Overnight stay night camping at Arkwasiye.
Day 12: Trek Ambikwa to Lamo
After breakfast, you will trek to Lamo (2,000 meter above sea level) where you will descent to more than 1,000 meters above sea level alongside Ansiya River to visit the extraordinary lowlands where as you descent, the temperature progressively gets warmer. You will be camping at Lamo. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the camping site. Overnight stay night camping at Lamo.
Day 13: Trek Lamo to Amba Tsion
Right after breakfast, an early morning trekking will take you to Amba Tsion, an easy day, contouring far below the escarpment on a trail, which passes through scrub and stands of palm trees. You will have an opportunity to interact with the local people and learn a little about their life style. You will have lunch in the bush. In the evening you will camp at a site that faces across the valley to a circle of mountains with Amba Tsion in the center. You will have dinner and stay the night camping. Overnight stay night camping at Amba Tsion .
Day 14: Trek to Adi Arkay and drive back to Gonder
In the morning after breakfast, you will trek to Adi Arkay (1,700 meter above sea level). A short stroll of a little over 2-hour will take you to the market town of Adi Arkay. Here you say goodbye to your trekking crew, and then board the vehicle to drive back to Gonder.
Day 15: Flight back to Addis Ababa and departure
After a relaxed breakfast, a short flight will take you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa in the afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenir.
Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.
