When having an idea to visit Vietnam, how much time you intent to spend in our Mekong region? If the answer is 2 days, we would say it is a perfect plan. This package offers you various activities including boat trip, bike ride, local cooking and homestay experience, opportunity to live as local when eating local food, rowing local sampan, meeting local people, etc. Do not miss it anyway!
Day 1: Sai Gon-Can Tho-Hau Giang
Pick up from Sai Gon by private car at 4:30 am then travel down to Mekong on high way. Arrive in Can Tho around 3 hour drive. We start the boat trip for exploring the authentic Mekong region.
Visit Cai Rang floating market – the biggest floating market in Vietnam to get to know how people here do trading on the water.
Enjoy Vietnamese coffee and fresh fruit purchasing from the floating market to experience the feeling of local people there. You will enjoy the view of the floating market at the same time
Then our boat heads to visit the local rice noodle factory to learn how local people make noodles by hands in traditional way. You will have breakfast with its typical food called Noodle Pizza right there.
At around 10:00 am, we get back to the boat and depart for Hau Giang province which is famous for its rural life and countryside. Travel around 1 hour, we will reach the real local home stay called Hieutour Stay which is truly ecological and non-touristic. It is located in a peaceful area of the province where people still try to earn their living by agricultural production.
Have a warm lunch with local family at the homestay with local cuisine and take a short rest to be ready for the afternoon trip. At 2:00 pm: Gather together at the homestay then take the bicycles for the trip around the area.
Cycling on the country roads along the riverside for exploring may kinds of fruits and plans with their great uses.
Furthermore, it is along the river side with fresh air and cool environment which will bring you a peaceful feeling of local people here.
Stop along the way for having coffee at local coffee shop, catching typical images of locals here such as growing trees, wrapping fruit, washing clothes. You may catch up simple but lovely images of local student who come home from school on bicycles or on foot and chat with each other on the way.
Get back to the home stay at around 5:00 pm, have a good rest then join the cooking activities to learn how to cook typical food of Mekong region and taste what you have just cooked.
Have a warm dinner together and take a good rest to be ready for the floating market trip next morning.
Day 2: Can Tho-Mekong Heart
Phong Dien floating market & cacao farm
Check out at the home stay then at 5:00 am we depart for visiting Phong Dien floating market on the boat, leave your luggage on the boat. When arriving at Phong Dien floating market, we will move to the local small wooden boat for your real experience the local life of people here who still get use to adding boats as part of their life. A very different authentic sight will come to your view with local rowing and motorized boats gathering here for trading local agricultural product. The floating market is very small but peaceful which will give you another feeling compared to that in the big market.
Enjoy the beautiful sunrise if it is in good weather. Weave into the floating market to explore the way local people there exchange the product right on their boats.
After your breakfast time, come back to the boat and head to small, long and narrow canals to see the daily activities of people living around there. Take a short walk around the countryside to enjoy the peaceful environment there.
After around 30 minute walk, we stop to visit the Cacao Stay where you will get to know how to make fresh chocolate and wine from cacao fruit in an organic system. You also can have a chance to taste one of the product here such as cacao milk, cacao wine or chocolate bar. Your private car takes you back to Saigon.
