Day 2 
Destination: Bangkok

You’ll begin this Bangkok tour by walking to the pier, where you’ll board a longtail boat down the Chao Phraya River, also known as the River of Kings. The name of the river perfectly reflects this part of the tour; you’ll feel like royalty on your relaxing journey! This river is also the reason why Bangkok is known as the ‘Venice of the East,’ and you’ll explore this nickname further as you glide through the network of khlongs or canals. Many of the khlongs have been filled in over the years and converted into roads. These roads have turned into little Thai communities, and as you swoop through the waters you’ll discover insights into these neighbourhoods. This area of Bangkok feels like a world away from the busy streets and chaos, and a welcome break from the bustling city centre!
After that, you’ll head to Pak Klong Talad or the flower market. This is the biggest flower market in Thailand and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Many different types of flowers are shipped here, and the market acts as a distribution centre, transferring flowers to other cities throughout the country.

Day 3
Destination: Bangkok

This morning, transfer to Ayutthaya. Start your journey in Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand and a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. Explore the ancient island city and experience the highlights of the Historical Park by bicycle and visit Ayutthaya's Tourism Information Centre.

Day 4
Destination: Bangkok - Battambang

Transfer to Aranyaprathet border (Thailand’s side)

You will exit Thailand at Aranyaprathet. You will say goodbye to the Thai leader and start our road to the Cambodian border. Passing through immigration formalities we meet our new leader (Cambodian section commences at Poipet border) and head for Battambang (116km, approx. 3-hour drive);

Upon arrival directly to the hotel for relaxing. (Lunch on own account). Cambodia’s second-largest city Battambang-is a pretty riverside town of French elegance, friendly Khmer people and beautifully preserved colonial architecture. Short trip cycling from town through the scenery quickly becomes one of villages and rice paddies, offering an excellent opportunity to see a bit of authentic rural Cambodia.

Afternoon, you will take an easy walk for art tour through old French colonial houses including Sangker Gallery and a presentation of the art & contemporary scene in the province by the curator of the art gallery. Then continue to Tep Kao Sol gallery for a walk through the art by the curator and artist and Lotus gallery for a short movie directed by Khmer artists. Finally, meet the artist at his studio for an open discussion about their work and art (artist subject to be available)

This evening, you may enjoy the street tour for tasting local dishes such as Khmer curry with noodles, fried or grilled spicy chicken and any drink are available in a string of pavement stalls. It is fun and cheap, yet real experience with the real nightlife of the locals. The market sets along the lovely riverbank where you can enjoy a beautiful atmosphere at night.

Day 5 
Destination: Battambang – Countryside bike

Wake early and take a bicycle ride into the countryside. The ride is easy about 22km and takes in mostly shady roads and countryside through local villages. Along the way, stops at several family-run cottage industries who produce traditional products such as rice paper, dried bananas, and rice wine, production of the famous prahok (fish paste). A stop and enjoy the seasonal fruit & coconut fresh juice. Finish up at the best Kralanh (sticky rice in bamboo) you can also taste.

Afternoon visit Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) is a Cambodian non-governmental organization (NGO) aiming to support community development through providing social, educative and cultural services to children and their families. The circus school has welcomed kids and teenagers to train all day long in several circus disciplines: acrobatics, juggling, balancing, contortion, trapeze and clowning. Those kids are now young adults who have become professional artists.  (Note: The school will be closed every weekend and public holiday.)

Late afternoon, you will take tuk-tuk to visit the local market before heading to villager home where you will be ready to prepare cooking class as home-cooked meal by trying your hands at traditional Khmer dishes. You can taste your dishes such as amok, Khmer curry, and fried spicy chicken, not only the best food but also a delightful opportunity to get a "taste" of Cambodian family life.

Day 6
Destination: Battambang – Siem Reap

Make a classic journey by private boat across the Tonle Sap Lake taking in the magnificent views, scattering of fishermen and local people living atop their floating villages. The small but expanding town of Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor. This is the most popular destination for travellers in all of Cambodia, perhaps even in South East Asia. The journey spends around 6-7 hours which is truly something worth this relaxing means of travelling back to Siem Reap. A picnic lunch box including soft drink and snack on board. 

Notes: Between April and August, when water levels are typically at their lowest, we are unable to travel by boat and instead make this journey by minibus. So that our Intrepid travellers at this time don't miss out on the Tonle Sap experience, we instead include a boat tour of Tonle Sap from Siem Reap

Upon arrival at the pier, you will stop at a local farming community, walk through rice fields and learn about Cambodian stilt homes and life in a typical farming village. Hear about the myriad ways a non-government organization called Husk Cambodia works directly with this community to improve the lives of Cambodian families. Meet with sewing ladies’ team who made our Intrepid responsible bag.

After the visit, transfer to hotel for check-in and relax.

The small but expanding town of Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor. This is the most popular destination for travellers in all of Cambodia, perhaps even in South-East Asia. The markets are a great place to shop or to try some cheap, delicious street food by your own arrangement.

This evening, you will be entertained with a special performance of the Cambodian circus at Phare Ponleu Selpak. PPS meaning “The Brightness of the Arts” originally started up since 1994 in Battambang by the young group returned from the refugee camps during the Cambodia civil war. It is an NGO improving the lives of children, young adults, and their families with art schools, educational programs, and social support so far. Inside the campus, you will enjoy the rotation of a spectacular show putting on by a talented and energetic troupe of young performers. The performance is filled with awe-inspiring acrobatics and musical accompaniment. It will reveal your heart goes into creating such a wonderful experience with fun and also enabling you to know about Khmer culture!  (Dinner on own account).

Day 7
Destination: Siem Reap – Angkor complex

Early get up for eye-catching sunrise at Angkor Wat, you might be lucky to see sunlight raying clear for a dawn display of color over the towers, making the view towards the temple is stunning. A simple breakfast box is available from the hotel if you would like to make the most of your time and not return to the hotel for breakfast (please advise in advance).

Today we may choose to have an early start to avoid the inevitable crowds drawn to the wonders of Angkor. The various temples are spread over a wide area and are linked by shady avenues; meandering our way between them by bike gives us a unique perspective.

Our cycle tour will include the jungle-covered Ta Prohm, with the amazing roots of the Fromager trees clinging to the ancient stones, Angkor Thom with the famous Bayon temple of 37 towers (originally there were 49) topped with the four faces of the king, and of course the incredible Angkor Wat, with its huge moat, long causeway and massive towers - it is the largest temple complex in Asia.

Tonight, a farewell dinner will be served at Marum restaurant, it has indoor and outdoor seating at a traditional Khmer wooden house with a beautiful garden. Your meal helps build a new life for the students in training while enjoying a memorable dining experience! 100% of the profits are reinvested into the education of students in training and Kaliyan Mith social programs. (Note: The restaurant will be closed for public holiday. Alternative local restaurant subjects to replace.)

Before your meal, you will be welcomed and presented the story about the projects which support and provide free training for street children for the future bright. Then you will experience to learn how to make a cocktail that you might also be a good time to taste a cocktail before settling to enjoy your dinner with nice atmosphere.

Day 9 
Destination: Hanoi

Embark on a city tour. Your first destination will be Chau Long market, you will have a chance experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this little local market. The next place will be Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi.

Next you will have a short walk to Quan Thanh Temple, one of the most important temples in the local Vietnamese believes, discover the authentic architecture, learn more about the traditional life rhythm through this public reunion place.

From there, you will be guided to Van Mieu – The Temple of Literature – the first Vietnamese University, founded in 11th century by the Emperor Ly Thai Tong. Learn about the educational system in the traditional Vietnam which was still applied until early 20th century. Make the way inside the local market and enjoy a typical lunch.

Day 10 
Destination: Pu Luong

Travel by minibus to the hidden southern part of Hanoi, Pu Luong is one of the best alternatives of now very busy Sapa. Day 12
Destination: Pu Luong - Ninh Binh

Start early today, we will travel by bus to Ninh Binh – a land of history and food. We will stop by a small village to explore one of the best Vietnamese good for breakfast, the Vietnamese pancake with pork-barbecue. After the break, we continue to Explore Hoa Lu, a small town but with a very interesting history of Dinh and Le Dynasties – Hoa Lu used to be the Capital of Vietnam until 11th Century. Afterward, we will travel to Tam Coc. Upon your arrival in Tam Coc, enjoy welcome drink with local people, you’ll hop on bicycles for an easy-paced ride through scenic rural landscapes. Make your way back with a stop en-route to join a local farmer daily work activity - fish catching, before ending your cycling at one of the village’s houses for a late-lunch. We then embark on traditional rowing sampan for about one hour on a less traveled canal along the border with the natural site of the impressive inland-Ha Long bay.

Day 13
Destination: Hanoi – Village discovery

13:30PM Leave the busy streets of Hanoi via a scenic road winding through the city’s Old Quarter, through the urban outskirts, and into the countryside. We’ll pass Hanoi’s oldest bridge, The Long Bien, which was built by the famous Eiffel Construction company in 1902.

Experience the beauty of Vietnam’s countryside as you cycle through back roads and along the banks of the Red River on our Hanoi village tour. See local villagers at work as your guide points out traditional rural activities and sights.  We’ll stop by a famous local artist’s house to study some popular trends of Vietnamese contemporary fine arts, including installation, body, and performance art. You will have chance to view them all here at his 2,000-square-metre estate.

We’ll continue our bike tour by cycling through the tranquil banana and vegetable farming area of Red River Island. There will be lots of opportunities to stop and take photos of the beautiful surroundings and the locals working on their farms.

We then head off to the pottery village of Quang Ba where ceramics are stacked waiting to be taken into Hanoi by bicycle. This route takes us past the Red River’s floating houses and fields of colorful flowers. Depending on the season, you may get to see locals picking the flowers to be taken to market.

We continue cycling along the river to the famous West Lake for a cup of coffee or green tea while enjoying the magnificent sunset. Back on our bikes, we’ll return to the meeting point in Hanoi where your guide will be able to assist you in getting a taxi to your hotel.
