(ODT01) FORT SAN LORENZO + 1 WAY TRANSCONTINENTAL TRAIN RIDE

You are met at the hotel then taken to the train station for the 7:15 a.m. train ride. You will cross the Isthmus on the historic Panama Canal Railway, the world's first transcontinental railway, built in 1855 for California 49ers traveling west on their quest for fortune during the Gold Rush. The scenic route now travels along the Panama Canal and its historic Canal Zone towns, plus through miles of lush rain forest. The trip takes about 50 minutes as you comfortably ride in special, luxury observation cars. In Colon, your driver/guide will meet you then taken to San Lorenzo.

The Fort, a colonial fortification set high on a cliff, was meant to discourage pirates from entering the Isthmus of Panama. Once you are there, you will enjoy stunning, panoramic views of the Caribbean, the mouth of the Chagres river and the rainforest, all from the strategic location on top of the hill.

Lunch is not included, but we will stop at one of the restaurants of our suggestion in the area. From Colon, you will also get a chance to stop at the Gatun Locks, passing over the Panama Canal, before arriving in Fort San Lorenzo.

Our driver will take you back to Panama City after the visit of Fort San Lorenzo.

Note: The tour can be modified as follows:

1. For early risers you can catch the 7:15 am train ride in Panama City and we drive back again to your hotel at the end of the tour.

2. Or we can meet you at the hotel around 9:00 am and transport you direct to Gatun Locks-San Lorenzo then catch the 5:15 p.m. train ride back to Panama City station to meet our driver again who will bring you to the hotel.
