Jamaican Cuisine Is A Fusion Of Techniques And Traditions - “Out of Many One Pot”
Jamaican food is as varied as the cultural mix of the island and is like no other. Each parish and district claims its own unique recipe, ingredients, cooking method and style.
Jamaican cuisine is a fusion of various dishes from the different cultures brought to the island with the arrival of people from elsewhere. What you will taste and experience today, from Jamaican patties, curry goat to fried dumplings, jerk pork or chicken, ackee and salt fish, has largely evolved from a mixture of cooking techniques, flavours, spices and influences from the indigenous people on the island.
Jamaican food is also influenced by the crops introduced into the island from tropical Southeast Asia and the Spanish, British, Africans, Indian and Chinese who have inhabited the island. A wide variety of seafood, tropical fruits and meats are available.
The only question now is how much can you manage to eat and experience?
