This is a 21 days tour, which will take you to every corner of Uganda. This tour aims to immerse you fully into Uganda's true essence and nature. From the tropical mountains in the South west to the roaring falls in the North west.

Meet the locals, get to experience what they call home. Their cultures and traditions are not only a sight to behold but also great stories to be heard. Go on a safari drive into the National parks and encounter the big five, grazing antelops, ferocious Nile crocodiles, the list is endless.

DAY 1: ENTEBBE AIRPORT – KAMPALA

Tusanyuse okulaba! Translation: We are happy to see you. A Redroad Tours representative/driver will warmly receive you at the airport and after a brief orientation, drive you to your accommodation in Kampala. 

 

DAY 2: KAMPALA 

After breakfast, set out for a tour of Kampala City to visit some cultural, economic and religious landmarks. Some of the places you must visit are: Gaddafi’s mosque, the local markets, Bahai temple, Uganda museum, etc… Lunch will be  served in between tours. Later, you will go back to your accommodation in the city and sleep overnight.

 

DAY 3: KAMPALA – LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

On this day, right after breakfast, head on out to Lake Mburo National park on a 4 hour drive. Lake Mburo is the smallest savannah park with an impressive diversity for it’s size.

On arrival, check into your accommodation, settle in, have lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing.

 

DAY 4 : LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK – LAKE BUNYONYI

Feast your eyes on what Lake Mburo national park has to offer this morning on horse back.  Lake Mburo is popular for it’s variety of herbivores, for example giraffe, buffaloes, elephants, reedbucks, bushbucks, zebras, to mention a few. View all these on horse back and enjoy a picnic breakfast as well. After this exciting horse back riding experience, a 5 hour drive will lead you to your next destination which is Lake Bunyonyi. Check into your accommodation, have dinner, then spend the night.

 

DAY 5 : LAKE BUNYONYI

Take an early morning canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi to enjoy the mystic views and relax in the cool weather. Visit some of the islands on the lake, and observe some nature. Bunyonyi is a local term that translates to “ many birds” or "small birds". It lives up to it's name as you will see the many bird species. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. In the afternoon, take a community walk and visit some of the inhabitants of the highlands. After this, you will embark on a 3 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetratble forest national park where you will check into your accommodation and spend the night.

 

DAY 6: LAKE BUNYONYI – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

This morning, have breakfast we head out on our first and only activity of the day – the Batwa trail. This is a village walk where you get to visit the Batwa pygmy community.

 

DAY 7: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

As early as 6am, prepare for the Gorilla trek, dress up in your trekking attire, have breakfast and transfer to the park office. Essential items to carry include a lunch box from the lodge, drinking water at least one litre and a rain jacket. Meet the ranger/guide for allocation of the Gorilla groups. Meet with other trekkers of your group and after the pre-trek briefing from the rangers, you will go to the trail head for the start of the trek. Enter the thick jungle and start your search for the Mountain Gorillas. Bwindi has a Mountain Gorilla population of close to 400 which is nearly half the population of Gorillas left in the entire world. 14 groups have been habituated for the tracking experience. The trek through the dense forest offers up close encounters of plenty of wildlife including other primates, birds, and plants. The time it takes to find the Gorillas cannot be predicated as they move frequently while they feed (other factors notwithstanding), so it could take from a few minutes to several hours. You will spend 1 hour with the Gorillas, observing them from a safe distance of no more than 7meters. This is a moment that you will never forget. After the Gorilla experience, return to the lodge.

 

DAY 8: BWINDI I.N.P – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Check out of the lodge after breakfast and depart for Queen Elizabeth national park. You will drive through the Ishasha sector to look out for the famous tree climbing lions and also spot many other animals including topis, Uganda kob, waterbuck, elephants, and buffaloes.

 

DAY 9: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Be up as early as 6.00am, have a quick cup of tea or coffee with a snack and set out for the morning game drive into the park. The early start increases the chance of catching the nocturnal and elusive cuts such as lions, leopards and hyenas which are actively hunting by that time. You will then drive to the Kasenyi plains which is the main area for game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is a mating ground for antelopes, thus attracting predators such as lions and hyenas. Elephants and buffaloes are a common sight here. Queen Elizabeth National Park is blessed with one of the best scenery among Africa’s parks. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the crater lakes, and grassy hills. After close to three hours of wildlife viewing, return to the lodge for a heavy breakfast and rest till the afternoon. After lunch, set out for a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel, a natural stream of water that joins two Lakes Edward and George. The boat ride offers sightings of several wildlife at very close range. Hippos and crocodiles are inhabitants of the channel. Many other animals like buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes come to drink and cool off along the banks of the channel. To the delight of the birders, there are hundreds of species of water birds along the channel such as skimmers, kingfishers, fish eagles, herons, and pelicans among others. The boat ride is about 2 hours long. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Hot Air Balloon Safari: $380 per person
Experience the wildlife of Queen Elizabeth national park in a new, unique way. Wake up early to catch the sunrise, as you silently fly over the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Feast your eyes on the herds of buffaloes, elephants and enjoy the serene tranquility of the African bush. This baloon ride lasts approximately 1 hour. Rise as the sun rises and float in whatever direction the winds of the morning takes you. Fly higher than the trees and hills and enjoy the best of Uganda, with many great photo opportunities of the scenery and wildlife below.

After a smooth landing you can celebrate this amazing adventure with a glass of sparkling juice before returning to your lodge to continue your safari.

 

DAY 10: QUEEN ELIZABETH – KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

On this day, after you have your breakfast, embark on a drive to Kibale forest national park. This drive is 1 hour and 20 minutes. On arrival, participate in one of two optional activities; a swamp walk in Bigodi wetlands or a crater lake hike or, you could choose to relax at your lodge.

 

DAY 11: KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the visitors’ center by 7.00am to meet the rangers and other fellow trekkers. After the pre-trekking briefing from the park rangers, begin the trek into the forest to find the Chimps and observe plenty of life supported by the evergreen forest. Kibale Forest is home to the biggest population of Chimps in Uganda from which three large communities have been habituated for the Chimpanzee trekking adventures. Kibale Forest is famous not just for the Chimps, but the largest concentration of primates in the world. 12 other species of primates inhabit the evergreen rainforest and you will be able to see some of them during the trek. For example L’Hoest’s monkey, red colobus, and baboons among others. The keen birder will observe some of the 335 bird species recorded in the park. Each of the three Chimpanzee communities occupies a known territory which makes the trek easier. You are allowed no more than one hour with the Chimps. Return to the lodge for lunch and  relaxation.

 

DAY 12:  KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK – MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early in the morning and head on out on an 8 hour drive northwards to Murchison falls National park. You will have stop overs along the way for lunch and bathroom breaks. On arrival at Murchison falls, check into your accommodation, have dinner and spend the night.

 

DAY 13: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

You should be up at first light, have a quick cup of tea or coffee to warm your tummy before setting out on a 4 hour morning game-drive into Murchison Falls National Park to observe a variety of wildlife, and enjoy the beautiful savannah wilderness as the sun rises over it. Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest park situated along the mighty River Nile. It is the prime park for safaris in Uganda as it offers the biggest volume and variety of animal sightings. Your animal check list should include lions, giraffes, hyenas,  Uganda kob, bushucks, oribi, warthog, monkeys, baboons, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and waterbucks. The bird lovers will record plenty of savannah and woodlands. A pair of Abyssinian ground hornbill is so common that it has almost turned out to be the iconic birds of Murchison Falls. There are plenty of wood doves, and bee-eaters. The point where the Nile touches Lake Albert (commonly called the Albert Delta point) is common with water species and you may be chanced with a shoebill sighting.

Return from a 4 hour game drive, have full a breakfast and relax the rest of the morning.

Have lunch and then, at 2pm, set out for a boat ride on the river Nile for yet another chance to observe the beautiful nature of Murchison Falls National Park. The 2 hour ride goes upstream to the base of the Murchison Falls. You will be treated to sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and elephants among other wildlife. Water birds are in plenty and some of the species to look out for include herons, fish eagles, kingfishers, egrets and bee-eaters. When you get to the base of the Murchison Falls, you will disembark from the launch/boat to meet a waiting range/guide and set out for a 45 minute hike on a trail that runs along the thunderous falls all the way to the top where the mighty Nile squeezes through a tiny space - 7 meters between the rocks and as a result, exploding into one of the world's most powerful waterfalls – little wonder the park is named after these falls. This activity is called the top of the falls hike and it is one of the highlights of the tour in Murchison Falls National Park, if not the entire trip. You will get to great view points along the trail where you will enjoy spectacular views of the waterfalls! The driver guide will be waiting at the top to drive you back to the lodge. Have your dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 14:  MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

You will have the morning off on this day. Feel free to sleep in, and enjoy the facilities at your accommodation. Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and lunch and then, later in the evening, go out on a second game drive. This evening game drive gives you the opportunity to see animals you might have missed during the previous morning game drive. Some of the more elusive animals, like the leopard could be spotted (pun intended) around this time.

After this evening game drive, while back at your accommodation, have dinner and spend the night.

 

DAY 15: MURCHISON FALLS – KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early, have a quick breakfast, board the van and the driver will take you on a 7 hour journey to your next destination – Kidepo valley national park. You will have lunch enroute. On arrival at Kidepo, check into your accommodation, settle in and spend the night.

 

DAY 16: KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Wake up to a cup of coffee or tea with a snack before setting out for a morning game drive into one of Africa’s most pristine wilderness. Explore the savannah grasslands of the Narus Valley in the south of the park to see many animals. Kidepo is rich with preying animals such as cheetah, stripped hyena, bat-eared fox, and caracal. Other games include lions, leopards, zebra, giraffe, kob, topi, waterbuck, jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, and warthog. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. After lunch, you will go back into the park to continue the game drive, this time heading to the semi-arid northern part of the park. Observe plenty of wildlife and spectacular scenery and features. You will return in the evening for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 17: KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK – SIPI FALLS

From Kidepo valley national park, you will head southwards to Sipi falls on an 8 hour long drive.  You will have a few stopovers to take bathroom breaks and have lunch. When you arrive at Sipi falls, check into your accommodation, have dinner and sleep overnight.

 

DAY 18: SIPI FALLS

The Sipi falls consists of three beautiful waterfalls (65m, 85m and 100m) situated at different spots along the base of Mountain Elgon. Your first activity will be the waterfall walk where, you will visit all three waterfalls. This trek many viewpoints of Mountain Elgon and plains below.

DAY 19: SIPI FALLS – JINJA

After your breakfast on this day, a 4 hour drive will have you arrive in Jinja town. Check into your accommodation, have lunch, relax a bit, and then later in the evening, unwind on an evening boat ride on the mighty River Nile. This “sundowner” cruise will take you to the source of the Nile.  After this, head back to your accommodation for dinner.

 

DAY 20: JINJA

On this day, you will choose to participate in one of 3 activities – white water rafting, which is a full day’s activity, quad biking or a mabira forest hike. You could also, choose to spend this day shopping in Jinja town or just relaxing at your accommodation.

 

DAY 21: JINJA – KAMPALA – ENTEBBE.

This is the last day of your 21 day adventure in Uganda. Check out of your accommodation in Jinja, and the driver will take you to Kampala city, where you will make a brief stop for lunch or a little shopping, after which you will head on to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
